Inspired by the Sanskrit word śarkarā (sugar), Shakara pays tribute to Southeast Asia’s historic role as the cradle of sugarcane cultivation. This 15-year-old rum is crafted from local Thai molasses, column distilled and matured exclusively in ex-bourbon casks under a tropical climate, accelerating interaction between spirit and wood. The result is a rum of remarkable depth and polish, where dried fruits, gentle oxidative tones and warm spices meet vibrant tropical freshness — combining maturity, precision and brightness in equal measure.

Produced in Thailand using regional molasses and traditional column distillation, Shakara reflects a modern Asian interpretation of aged rum, shaped by intense tropical ageing that enhances richness while preserving fruit clarity. The brand celebrates sugarcane’s Asian heritage while embracing classic maturation techniques, creating rums that balance elegance, spice and natural sweetness with a distinctly terroir-driven identity.

Nose: Lively yet smooth. Salted butter caramel, mango, chocolate, beeswax and cherry in brandy, followed by mustard seed, curry spice and apricot with light oxidative warmth.

Palate: Silky and refined. Cocoa powder, fresh ginger and pine resin give way to orange zest, apricot, mango and wild strawberry, revealing layered tropical fruit intensity.

Finish: Long and heady. Lightly burnt apricot tart, chestnut, mushroom, liquorice and clove with vegetal cane sugar and faint medicinal tones.
