Nose: Nutty malt with mocha and rum-raisin ice cream. A whisper of pineapple hides underneath.
Palate: Prune, dried cherry and more full-bodied barley notes, with a touch a cinnamon-maple pancake.
Finish: Bittersweet notes of dark chocolate.
Since 1895, Gordon & MacPhail has been driven by a simple mission: to create single malt Scotch whisky of exceptional quality.
Through four generations of family ownership, the company has matched spirit from over 100 Scottish distilleries to its own casks, creating exceptional whiskies found nowhere else in the world.
Situated six miles southwest of Elgin is Pluscarden Abbey. Initially a Priory, it was founded by King Alexander II in 1230. The Miltonduff distillery is said to be situated on the site of the Abbey's meal mill and one of the original stones from the Abbey is still proudly on display.
The Miltonduff expressions bottled by G&M demonstrate the extreme versatility of this excellent Speysider: rich spicy, dark honey notes can be found in the Cask Strength Collection of bottlings.
One other fascinating fact is that From 1967 until 1981, Miltonduff also produced another single malt called Mosstowie, using a Lomond still.
