STR cask (Shave, Toast, Re-charred) is a cask that, after containing red wine, is sanded, toasted, and re-charred, imparting to the whisky aging inside the distinct characteristics of fresh virgin oak and the fruity notes of first-fill red wine.

The first small batch is a blend of bourbon (75%), Portuguese STR wine (20%), and oloroso sherry (5%). This results in a whisky that combines savory notes of citrus and iconic peaty smoke from Kilchoman, along with notes of red fruits, spices, and milk chocolate influenced by the ex-Portuguese STR wine casks.

Nose : Dry straw, iodine, and flint.

Palate : Notes of grist, smoked porridge, and fudge.

Finish : Milk chocolate mousse.
